P.S. 8 PARENTS' COUNCIL

Parents + Teachers + Children > Together

A SPECIAL PAGE FOR SPECIAL PARENTS

If you've found your way to this page, you are most likely the parent of a special-needs child.  I felt this page was necessary, mostly because I am a special education parent too.  My son, Jon, who is now a 21 year-old autistic person, spent almost his entire life in the Jersey City School system.  My other 9 year-old son is in an inclusion class in P.S. #8.

So, if you are confused, frustrated, need help, want someone to go to an I.E.P. meeting with you, or just need someone to talk to - give me a call (201) 659-2628 or e-mail me at HH01518A.gif (838 bytes).  Sorry, I don't speak Spanish too well, and would appreciate anyone who does to offer some help in this endeavor.  I will do my best to help you.  It is especially important for special ed parents to get to know each other and stick together.    I would like to have separate PTA meetings just for parents of special needs children so that we can address certain concerns that don't necessarily apply to all students.  If anyone's interested, let me know.  I hope the links on this page are of some help to you.  I'll add more when I find them.  -- Maggie Dressler
